Cameco Governance Gateway
Unintrusive animations make this corporate gateway dead simple.Project goals:
- Introduce visitors to the Board of Directors and present their responsibilities simply.
- Make the gateway a quick stop on the way to detailed information; don’t tie-up or confuse users.
- Integrate with the existing site design.
Each of the twelve members of the Board of Directors contributes their unique skills and history to the company’s governance, as well as participation in any of the various committees. That’s a lot of combinations. Most sites spread the information across several pages, wasting visitors’ time just figuring out the basics. Cameco wanted to make the basic structure of the governance easy to understand so visitors could concentrate on the details.
They came to zu with good ideas about what could be done and hoping, as most clients do, that a bit of pizzaz could make it more interesting. We chose to build the gateway with Flash since we could use some subtle animation to make the interface more clear. Paying attention to the potential accessibility and performance issues with using Flash I was able to create a design that surpassed expectations, making everything they wanted to communicate easily understood.
At rest: the interface presents all available options: board members and committees.
Mouse over a board member: a synopsis of their bio appears; the committees they belong to are highlighted.
Mouse over a committee: a synopsis of the committee mandate appears; all members are highlighted and non-members fade.
